Abstract
Deltas are dynamic socio-ecological systems shaped by the ongoing interaction of water, soil, and sediment across different scales. While their fertility supports human settlement, upstream interventions disrupt sediment flows, leading to increased erosion, subsidence, and contamination. As accumulative landscapes at the “end of the pipe,” deltas both reveal and amplify broader territorial imbalances. Situated between productivity and vulnerability, they operate as diagnostic environments where depletion and regeneration coexist, calling for design approaches that engage with, rather than attempt to control, their inherent dynamism.
