5th anniversary of the Journal of Coastal and Hydraulic Structures!

We are happy to celebrate the 5 years anniversary of the Journal of Coastal and Hydraulic Structures (JCHS).

JCHS focusses on engineering of coastal and hydraulic structures, including the many details that turn scientific knowledge into solutions for practical challenges. We need to engineer solid solutions to face the many pressing societal challenges like energy transition, climate change and biodiversity decline. The many seemingly small details that make up the technological advances entail fascinating processes and physics. Also some disruptive technological advances need to find their way into our field, like the use of AI or novel measurement techniques that can find their way into construction practice and the laboratory.

As a diamond open access journal, JCHS is free to read and free to publish in. This model enables contributions from research institutes, government, and industry. In these applied organizations the real structures are designed and built, bringing valuable experience and craftsmanship. Turning that experience into generalized, reproducible, and concise scientific knowledge takes time and effort. JCHS provides a platform for sharing that knowledge.

As community-based journal, we have a large editorial board that refreshes regularly. In that spirit several changes have been made. Many thanks to founding editors Nils Goseberg, Rebekka Kopmann, Daniel Bung, Anton Schleiss, Brian Crookston, and Hans Bihs for your commitment and building the foundations of the journal. We are equally pleased to welcome the new editorial expertise of Daniel Valero, Olivier Bertrand, Lydia Schultze, and Colin Whittaker.

The growing number of citations to the papers in our new journal (53 last year, and this year already a similar amount), shows that our impact and recognition is rapidly growing.
