Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscripts are received with the understanding that they comprise original, unpublished material and are not being submitted for publication elsewhere. Furthermore, manuscripts submitted to PSS are received under the condition that all co-authors are aware of, and agree with, the submission. All manuscripts are subject to anonymous peer review.

The manuscript should be submitted as a Microsoft Word file. The manuscript should be written in English: UK and US spelling are allowed, but no mixture thereof. Quality of the English language use by non-native speakers is the full responsibility of the authors. A formatting template is available in Word.

We expect that authors, before submitting their work to PSS, have read in detail our ‘Focus and Scope' information, which can be found on our About the Journal page.

There are no strict requirements on reference formatting at submission, although APA is preferred. References can be in any style or format as long as the style is consistent. Where applicable, author(s) name(s), journal title/book title, chapter title/article title, year of publication, volume number/book chapter and the article number or pagination must be present. Use of DOI is highly encouraged.

Publishing fees
There are no publishing fees for the Journal Progress in Safety & Security (PSS) for either the authors or the readers.
